XPDC Season 7 Worlds Structure

Q: Hey! Why should I post my XPDC decklist into Gatherling?

A: Because that’s the only way to earn Season Points!

Q: Oh yeah? Why do I need or want Season Points?

A: Well……..

Top 32 players in Season Standings will receive invites to the XPDC Worlds 7 tourney. In the event an invited player cannot make it, he may release his invite which will extend to the 33rd ranked player, and so on…

Players will be seeded into pods according to their ranking in the Season Standings. In the event of a tie in Season Points, tied players will be randomly ordered. Pods will consist of FOUR players each. There will be EIGHT pods, labeled A through H.

  • Pod A: 1, 16, 17, 32
  • Pod B: 8, 9, 24, 25
  • Pod C: 3, 14, 19, 30
  • Pod D: 6, 11, 22, 27
  • Pod E: 5, 12, 21, 28
  • Pod F: 4, 13, 20, 29
  • Pod G: 7, 10, 23, 26
  • Pod H: 2, 15, 18, 31

For the first three rounds of the tourney, players will play round robin against each opponent in their respective pods. A win will be worth 3 points and a loss worth 0 points.

At the end of three rounds of round robin, the top TWO players from each pod will advance to single elimination rounds.

Round of 16:

  • A1 vs B2
  • B1 vs A2
  • C1 vs D2
  • D1 vs C2
  • E1 vs F2
  • F1 vs E2
  • G1 vs H2
  • H1 vs G2

The winners of each match in the Round of 16 will advance to Top 8, and so on.

A picture is worth a thousand words, so check this out…

The structure for this season’s XPDC Worlds tourney was blatantly ripped off from FIFA World Cup 2010.

Date for this event is forthcoming, but please post any questions, suggestions, or criticisms.
